Please note that every product type must meet the designated minimum requirement to guarantee quality printing.
In May 2018, we launched a design gatekeeper tool to prevent insufficient resolution files from being uploaded on larger product types, avoiding blurry prints and/or increased lead times due to outreach cycles.
Essentially, the gatekeeper tool allows for every designed image to be measured by our software after being uploaded. If the uploaded file does not meet the requirement advised, you will see an error message in red above the product wheel with the following text:
“The uploaded design image is too small for this product type. Please upload a larger design image, zoom out, use the pattern repeat feature, or switch product types.”
If this message is visible, you will not be able to upload the item until you make the necessary changes.
To successfully upload a good design, we recommend the following actions:
- Upload a larger file size. Please see the recommended file sizes per product type here
- Zoom out -- use the slider in our Studio tool to zoom out until the error message disappears
For files too small, fully zooming out will not be enough to produce a quality image. In this case, please select another option to resolve the problem (e.g. 1, 3 or 4)
- Use the repeat pattern feature. Tick the box next to “repeat” then use the slider tool to zoom in/out of the image and up to the level needed for printing the product type
- Switch to a different product type that requires a low resolution file. Below, please find a sample table detailing the main categories of VIDA products based on the file size needed
File Size | Product Type |
Small | Glass, Candles, Phone Case, Masks, Knit Tops, Ornament |
Medium | Tops, Bags, Clutches, Pouches, Pillows, Mini Square Scarf, Placemat, Napkin, Tees, Racerback, Leggings, Wood |
Large | Modal Scarf, Infinity Scarf, Cotton Scarf, Silk Square Scarf, Sheer Wrap, Cocoon Wrap, Sweatshirts, Merino Wool Scarf, Yoga Tote Bag |
Please note that this table will accompany “warning” messages shown in the VIDA artist Studio. Other messages may inform you that your product has not been named or that you need to drag the artwork into the bounding box and make sure it is fully covered. To launch a product successfully, ALL criteria must be met.
Take caution as zooming in to cover the bounding box will prompt the gatekeeping validation, and zooming out will trigger the bounding box validation. This is intentional.
If you encounter issues where an item cannot be launched, please try to identify the warning message that needs to be resolved. Below are some examples:
- Is it the size of the file?
- Is it because the art is not in the bounding box?
- Is it because the bounding box is not fully covered?
- Is it because the product is not named?
